You will need to log into cPanel. You can access cPanel by clicking the “Log in to cPanel” button located on the homepage of your Smart Start Host Client Area.Once you are logged in you will want to click on “WordPress Manager by Softaculous”
Installing WordPress
On this page you will see any existing WordPress applications that are active in your account. To add another click “Install”We will review each section separately.
In the first section we will go over “Software Setup”
The first section “Choose Protocol” Here you will choose the protocol for the WordPress Installation. In order for it to use HTTPS there must be a valid SSL certificate issued to the domain.
Next you will “Choose Domain” Simply select the domain you will be using from the dropdown menu.
For “In Directory” You designate the directory path you would like the application to be performed. If you wish for it to be installed directly under the domain names root folder leave this area blank. If you wish to be installed under a subdirectory specify in this field. Under “Site Settings” You will set the “Site Name” This is what will be diplayed in the browser title bar. You will also set the “Site Description” which will be displayed in the header of your frontend pages.
“Enable Multisite (WPMU)” & “Disable WordPress Cron” these options are a matter of preference to your needs. If you are unsure of what they are it is likely they should remain unchecked. Feel free to reach out to support if you are unsure.
The remaining fields will establish your contact and login credentials for the installation. “Admin Username”Your username to log in. “Admin Password” your password to log in. We strongly recommend that you set your password to “strong” or use the “key” to generate a password in order to protect your information. Simply click on the key and it will generate a password for you that you should store in a safe place.
Finally your “Admin Email” is the main email for your website functions such as password resets, notifications, and requests.
Next you will “Choose Language” and “Select Plugin(s)” We strongly recommend you keep LiteSpeed Cache selected. All of these selections may be made after installation of your WordPress.
Here you can give your “Database Name” a custom name and change the database “Table Prefix”. You can customize the automations by choosing to “Disable Update Notifications Emails”, selecting to “Auto Upgrade WordPress Plugins”, or to “Auto Upgrade WordPress Themes”. Lastly you have the option to pre-select the active theme your new WordPress will be installed with. This is optional and may be done after you have completed your installation. There is a field available to enter an email address to send installation details to should you want them sent to a separate address.
